Upper Kindergarten

Ages 2.5 – 4 years

In this class, we have combined our upper classes of 2.5 – 4 year olds. Our oldest children are now refining and building upon previous skills to develop more complex and sophisticated thought processes. At this stage, the concept of chores and responsibilities take on more important roles in order to build awareness and care for the classroom environment as well as to create real-world connections to classroom activities. Further to the typical areas of focus, children in this class also carry out weekly gardening and small projects around the physical school. They also enjoy weekly Virtues Lessons including lessons on compassion, kindness, and honesty. These lessons are given with the aid of various resources to peak the child’s interests such as stories, recordings of observed behavior in the school (such as two children working together to solve a problem), songs and short skits.
